Sales Engineer

Metal Power Analytical Pvt. Ltd.

Sales Engineer

Location: Mumbai, Maharashtra, India

Experience: 3-5 years

About the Company

Metal Power Analytical operates in the manufacturing industry and develops specialized analytical products, including spectrometers, for customers that depend on accurate measurement and informed technical decisions. The company’s commercial growth is driven by understanding customer applications, expanding market reach, and connecting product capabilities with operational needs. This role contributes directly to that mission by developing opportunities, strengthening customer relationships, and supporting the complete sales cycle across the assigned region. Working with the Regional Sales Manager, the Sales Engineer will help translate market signals into qualified opportunities and sustainable business outcomes. The position also connects customer expectations with internal documentation, after-sales service coordination, competitive intelligence, and commercial follow-through. For someone who enjoys combining technical understanding with consultative selling, this is an opportunity to build expertise in analytical instrumentation while influencing regional growth. The role is based in Mumbai and requires close engagement with customers, prospects, internal stakeholders, and relevant industry developments.

About the Role

The Sales Engineer owns regional opportunity development for spectrometers, from identifying potential applications to advancing qualified prospects toward closure. Working through market research, customer engagement, CRM-quality information, competitive insight, and coordination with the Regional Sales Manager, the role converts technical and commercial needs into actionable sales plans. Success means stronger market penetration, a healthier opportunity pipeline, better-informed selling decisions, responsive post-sales coordination, and timely payment recovery. The role requires regular interaction with customers and prospects, disciplined follow-through on commitments, and the ability to explain specialized products in a practical business context. It also serves as an important feedback channel, helping the business understand changing customer requirements, expansion plans, project activity, competitor positioning, and reasons behind lost opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and qualify sales opportunities for spectrometers by mapping customer applications, technical requirements, buying timelines, and decision stakeholders, thereby increasing regional market penetration and conversion potential.
  • Partner with the Regional Sales Manager to plan territory priorities, progress qualified opportunities, and align customer engagement with regional revenue targets and the company’s broader commercial strategy.
  • Research market needs, industrial expansions, upcoming projects, and emerging applications, converting external signals into targeted account plans and timely recommendations for sales focus.
  • Maintain complete and current client information, including operations, applications, contacts, requirements, opportunity status, and follow-up actions, enabling consistent account coverage and informed decision-making.
  • Monitor competitor products, pricing approaches, strengths, weaknesses, and customer activity; analyze lost opportunities to improve positioning, objection handling, qualification, and future sales execution.
  • Coordinate required documentation and communication for after-sales service, ensuring customer issues and product-support needs are routed clearly and resolved with appropriate internal follow-through.
  • Track contractual payment milestones, follow up with customers and relevant internal teams, and support recovery within agreed terms to protect cash flow and commercial discipline.

Essential Skills & Technologies

  • Technical sales experience involving analytical instruments, spectrometers, laboratory equipment, industrial products, or related solutions, with the ability to connect specifications to customer applications and business value.
  • Strong opportunity development, consultative selling, account management, negotiation, presentation, and stakeholder communication skills, supported by disciplined pipeline follow-up and regional territory planning.
  • Working proficiency with customer relationship management systems, Microsoft Office or equivalent productivity tools, structured market research, quotation and documentation processes, and sales reporting.

Additional Plus

  • Experience selling spectroscopy, analytical instrumentation, testing equipment, or solutions to industrial, manufacturing, research, quality, or laboratory customers is advantageous for faster product and application ramp-up.
  • Existing relationships with relevant Mumbai or western India industrial accounts, laboratories, research institutions, or process organizations can support quicker territory development and customer discovery.
  • Familiarity with technical tendering, contract terms, payment follow-up, service coordination, and competitor analysis will strengthen end-to-end ownership of opportunities and account outcomes.

What You'll Bring

  • You will bring a customer-focused and commercially disciplined approach to technical sales. You can learn specialized products quickly, understand how spectrometers address real operating or quality requirements, and explain their value clearly to technical and business stakeholders.
  • You are comfortable creating opportunities rather than waiting for inbound demand, using market research, customer conversations, project signals, and account mapping to prioritize effort. You will maintain accurate client information and opportunity updates so the Regional Sales Manager and internal teams can act on reliable facts.
  • You will also bring curiosity about industry developments and competitor behavior, using lost-opportunity analysis to improve future sales decisions. Strong organization matters because the role spans prospecting, presentations, proposals, service documentation, customer follow-up, and payment recovery.
  • You should be confident working independently in the field while collaborating closely with regional leadership and internal support teams. Above all, you will take ownership of commitments, communicate early when risks arise, and remain focused on measurable outcomes: qualified opportunities, customer trust, regional growth, responsive support, and collections within agreed terms.

Why Join Us

  • Build specialized expertise in spectrometers and analytical instrumentation while working directly with customers whose technical and operational needs shape the sales conversation.
  • Own meaningful regional growth outcomes through opportunity generation, market intelligence, customer relationships, competitive insight, after-sales coordination, and payment discipline.
  • Work closely with the Regional Sales Manager in a role that combines technical understanding, consultative selling, field engagement, and commercial accountability.

What We Offer

  • A Mumbai-based opportunity to develop a career in technical sales within the analytical products and manufacturing industry, with direct exposure to customers, applications, and regional market development.
