Senior Manager – Carbon Projects & Environmental Attributes

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Carbon Projects & Environmental Attributes professional with strong hands-on expertise in carbon project development, GHG accounting, carbon quantification, MRV, verification, and credit issuance.

The ideal candidate should have strong knowledge of international carbon standards and registries, including Verra, Gold Standard, GCC, CDM, Article 6, and I-REC, along with proven experience managing carbon projects from feasibility and methodology selection through validation, registration, monitoring, verification, and issuance.

Key Responsibilities

Carbon Project Development & Execution

• Lead end-to-end carbon project development and implementation from feasibility assessment to credit issuance.
• Evaluate project eligibility, additionality, baseline scenarios, emission reduction potential, and commercial viability.
• Select appropriate carbon methodologies and frameworks based on project requirements.
• Manage projects across Renewable Energy, Energy Efficiency, Waste Management, Circular Economy, Transportation, Agriculture, Industrial Processes, and Nature-Based Solutions.
• Prepare and review Project Design Documents (PDDs), Monitoring Reports (MRs), Verification Reports, and supporting technical documentation.
• Coordinate project validation, registration, monitoring, verification, and issuance activities.

GHG Accounting & Carbon Quantification

• Perform GHG accounting, baseline calculations, emission reduction quantification, and carbon modelling.
• Apply relevant carbon methodologies in accordance with Verra, Gold Standard, GCC, CDM, Article 6, and other applicable frameworks.
• Develop and maintain accurate Monitoring, Reporting & Verification (MRV) systems.
• Ensure data quality, integrity, audit readiness, and compliance with methodology requirements.

Registry & Verification Management

• Coordinate with Validation & Verification Bodies (VVBs), carbon registries, consultants, project developers, and project owners.
• Manage project registration, validation, verification, issuance, and registry submissions.
• Monitor credit issuance timelines and resolve technical or documentation-related issues.
• Coordinate credit transfers, retirements, cancellations, and other registry activities.

Business Development & Project Evaluation

• Provide technical support to Business Development and commercial teams for carbon project opportunities.
• Conduct technical due diligence and prepare project feasibility assessments.
• Support technical proposals, client presentations, project evaluations, and commercial discussions.
• Identify new carbon project opportunities and emerging environmental attribute products.
• Support development of the organization's carbon strategy across domestic and international markets.

Compliance & Quality Assurance

• Ensure compliance with applicable carbon standards, methodologies, registry requirements, and climate regulations.
• Maintain high-quality project documentation and ensure audit readiness.
• Identify technical, regulatory, documentation, and project execution risks.
• Implement appropriate corrective actions to maintain project quality and compliance.

Market Intelligence

• Track developments in global carbon markets, carbon methodologies, Article 6 mechanisms, carbon pricing, CORSIA, CBAM, and national carbon market frameworks.
• Monitor emerging project methodologies and environmental attribute opportunities.
• Provide market and regulatory insights to support strategic project decisions.

Required Skills & Competencies

• Strong hands-on experience in Carbon Project Development and Carbon Markets.
• Strong knowledge of GHG Accounting, Carbon Accounting, Carbon Quantification, MRV, and Emission Reduction Calculations.
• Expertise in international carbon standards and registries such as Verra (VCS), Gold Standard, GCC, CDM, Article 6, and I-REC.
• Experience preparing and reviewing PDDs, Monitoring Reports, Verification Reports, and registry submissions.
• Strong understanding of project validation, verification, registration, and carbon credit issuance.
• Strong analytical, technical problem-solving, and project management skills.
• Excellent stakeholder management and cross-functional coordination abilities.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• High attention to detail and strong documentation capabilities.
• Willingness to travel for project and stakeholder requirements.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Energy Engineering, Environmental Science, Sustainability, Climate Change, or related discipline.
• Master's degree / MBA in Environmental Management, Climate Change, Engineering Management, Sustainability, or related field will be preferred.
• 5–6 years of relevant experience in carbon project development, carbon markets, sustainability, GHG accounting, or environmental attributes.
• Proven experience managing carbon projects through feasibility, methodology selection, PDD preparation, validation, registration, monitoring, verification, and issuance.
• Experience working with VVBs, carbon registries, consultants, project developers, and regulatory stakeholders.
• Certifications in ISO 14064, GHG Protocol, Carbon Accounting, LCA, Sustainability Reporting, Lead Auditor, or carbon markets will be an added advantage.

Software & Tools

• Carbon Registries: Verra Registry, Verra Project Hub, Gold Standard Impact Registry, GCC Portal.
• Analysis & Modelling: Advanced MS Excel for carbon calculations, emission quantification, project economics, forecasting, and data analysis.
• Documentation & Presentation: MS Word and PowerPoint for technical reports, validation/verification submissions, client presentations, tender documentation, and management reports.

Preferred Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate should be:

• Technically strong in carbon project development and environmental attributes.
• Experienced in managing projects from concept through carbon credit issuance.
• Strong in GHG accounting, emission reduction calculations, and MRV systems.
• Comfortable working with international standards, registries, VVBs, and project stakeholders.
• Strong in technical documentation, project execution, and regulatory compliance.
• Commercially aware and capable of supporting Business Development teams.
• Proactive, analytical, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-changing regulatory environment.
• Willing to travel for project assessments, audits, client meetings, and stakeholder engagements.
