Job Title: Head of Central Planning
Location: Tirupur, Tamil Nadu
Experience: 10–15 years of experience in garment manufacturing
JOB PURPOSE
Lead the centralised manufacturing planning function across all manufacturing units,
ensuring optimum capacity utilisation, effective order allocation, balanced factory
loading, material readiness, production execution and on-time delivery.
CENTRAL PLANNING & STRATEGY
- Develop and manage the overall central planning strategy across
manufacturing units.
- Establish standard planning processes, systems, formats and review
mechanisms.
- Consolidate business requirements and convert them into realistic
manufacturing plans.
- Develop monthly, quarterly and annual manufacturing plans aligned with
business projections.
- Drive proactive rather than reactive planning across the organisation.
CAPACITY PLANNING & FACTORY LOADING
- Develop factory-wise and line-wise capacity plans based on SMV, efficiency,
working days, product complexity and available resources.
- Allocate orders to factories based on capability, capacity and delivery
requirements.
- Ensure optimum and balanced utilisation of manufacturing capacity.
- Identify capacity gaps, excess capacity and future capacity requirements.
- Recommend capacity redistribution, additional shifts, outsourcing or capacity
expansion where required.
ORDER & PRODUCTION PLANNING
- Manage end-to-end order planning from order confirmation to production
completion.
- Prepare production plans aligned with committed delivery dates.
- Monitor planned vs. actual production, WIP, efficiency and order
completion.
- Prioritise critical orders and develop recovery plans for delayed orders.
- Ensure production plans are realistic, achievable and continuously updated.
RAW MATERIAL & MATERIAL READINESS
- Coordinate with Sourcing - Fabric, Sewing Trims and Packing Trims teams
to ensure material readiness.
- Monitor material availability against planned production requirements.
- Identify material shortages or delays that may impact production.
- Ensure production plans are aligned with actual material availability.
- Establish early-warning mechanisms for critical material risks.
CROSS-FUNCTIONAL COORDINATION
- Work closely with:
- Merchandising
- Sourcing - RM
- Production
- Industrial Engineering
- Quality
- Factory Heads
- Commercial & Logistics
Ensure business commitments, material availability, factory capacity and production
plans remain aligned.
INDUSTRIAL ENGINEERING & EFFICIENCY
- Work with IE teams to validate SMV, efficiency and capacity assumptions.
- Monitor planned vs. actual efficiency.
- Identify productivity gaps affecting capacity.
- Support line balancing, bottleneck reduction and capacity improvement.
- Incorporate product complexity and learning curves into planning.
DELIVERY & RISK MANAGEMENT
- Establish an early-warning system for delivery risks.
- Identify bottlenecks, capacity constraints and production delays in advance.
- Drive corrective and recovery actions with relevant teams.
- Monitor critical orders through regular review mechanisms.
- Develop contingency plans for capacity, material and production disruptions.
MIS, SYSTEMS & ANALYTICS
- Develop central planning dashboards and management MIS.
- Ensure accurate visibility of orders, capacity, production, WIP, material
readiness and delivery status.
- Drive ERP-based planning and data accuracy.
- Utilise Advanced Excel / Power BI for planning analysis and decision-making.
- Establish meaningful planning KPIs and performance dashboards.
TEAM LEADERSHIP
- Lead and develop the Central Planning / PPC team.
- Define clear KRAs, KPIs and accountability.
- Build planning capability through training and process improvement.
- Promote data-driven decision-making and strong planning discipline.

QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor degree in Textile, Apparel, Production, Industrial Engineering
or related discipline.
- 10–15 years of experience in garment manufacturing with strong exposure
to Central Planning / PPC.
- Experience in multi-factory planning and capacity management is
preferred.
- Strong knowledge of garment manufacturing, SMV, efficiency, capacity
planning and production systems.
- Strong analytical, leadership, communication and stakeholder-management
skills.
- Proficiency in ERP, Advanced Excel and Power BI/MIS preferred.
- Experience in sportswear / activewear manufacturing will be an added
advantage.
