Head of Engineering

Scalio | Bengaluru, India | On-site | Full-time

Compensation: ₹40–70 LPA annual fixed salary plus equity. Equity terms discussed during hiring.

The role

Lead engineering while staying close to architecture, code, and production. Own delivery, reliability, technical standards, and team development as Scalio builds its AI marketing platform.

What you’ll work on

• Technical direction and delivery planning with the founders.

• Hands-on implementation, architecture reviews, and code reviews.

• Reliability, observability, incident response, and safe releases.

• Hiring, coaching, and clear ownership across the team.

• Engineering practices that improve quality and delivery speed.

• Effective use of AI coding tools with review and validation.

What we’re looking for

• 5+ years of software engineering experience.

• Demonstrated technical leadership and experience developing engineers.

• Strong backend, systems design, and production operations fundamentals.

• Continued ability to write, review, and debug production code.

• Practical judgment about priorities, technical debt, and team capacity.

Strong plus

Early-stage engineering leadership, production AI systems, web/mobile platforms, and building teams.

Required written questions

1. Describe the engineering team and product you have led. Include team size, your hands-on contribution, and measurable outcomes.

2. Share a technical artifact or shipped product that demonstrates your engineering leadership. What did you personally own?

3. Describe a major reliability incident you led through resolution. What engineering and organizational changes followed?

4. How have you balanced feature delivery, technical debt, and reliability under limited capacity? Give a specific example.

5. Describe an engineer you helped develop or a hiring process you improved. What actions and outcomes can you point to?

6. How would you introduce AI-assisted engineering workflows while maintaining code quality, security, and accountability?
