What makes the role meaty?

We are looking for a dynamic Sourcing Manager to manage end-to-end procurement of fish and seafood for our Pan India operations. The role involves working closely with fishermen, suppliers, and aggregators to ensure consistent supply, quality, and cost efficiency and leading the procurement team at Licious

Role Overview

Own end-to-end marine procurement for Licious's fish & seafood vertical from harbour and coastal landings through to processing centre fulfilment. Reporting to the Sourcing Head: Fish & Seafood, you will be accountable for supply security, the coastal direct-sourcing network, the vendor ecosystem, and cost competitiveness across the category. The role carries full team leadership responsibility across processing centres and coastal clusters.

Key Responsibilities

  • Guarantee uninterrupted supply across all cities, holding category fill rate above plan through demand-linked indenting and multi-source contingency.
  • Drive cost efficiency by expanding direct coastal sourcing and reducing dependence on intermediated/trader channels.
  • Build and deepen the direct vendor network — identify, onboard, develop and retain an active base of coastal suppliers and processors.
  • Expand harbour-level coverage across key coastal geographies to secure species diversity, seasonality cover and price leverage.
  • Hire, build and lead the coastal and PC sourcing team; close open positions against plan and develop on-ground capability.
  • Lead sourcing readiness for new city and new category launches — vendor onboarding, cold chain, compliance and specs signed off ahead of go-live.
  • Run a structured vendor scorecard programme covering quality, fill rate, compliance and responsiveness, and act on underperformers.
  • Control category waste by tightening indent accuracy, grading discipline and inward quality norms to keep dump and excess within target.
  • Partner with Quality, Supply Chain, Finance and Category teams on specifications, costing, payment discipline and PO compliance.

We hope you have...

  • 7–10 years in procurement/sourcing within seafood, meat, agri or other perishable categories, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Hands-on knowledge of Indian coastal sourcing — harbours, landing centres, aquaculture clusters, species seasonality and price cycles.
  • Proven track record of building direct vendor and processor networks from scratch, including commercial negotiation and contracting.
  • Experience managing distributed, on-ground teams across multiple locations and processing centres.
  • Strong data orientation — comfortable working in Excel/Google Sheets and sourcing dashboards to drive fill rate, cost and waste decisions.
  • High on-ground presence; willing to travel extensively across coastal belts (AP, TN, Kerala, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Odisha, West Bengal).
  • Working understanding of cold chain, quality specifications and food safety/regulatory compliance for seafood.
  • Bias for action, ownership mindset, and the ability to operate with pace in a high-growth environment.
