Job Overview
To ensure product quality throughout machine shop operations by monitoring machining processes, conducting inspections, driving process improvements, and ensuring compliance with quality standards and customer requirements.
Responsibilities
- Perform in-process and final inspection of machined components.
- Ensure compliance with engineering drawings, GD&T, specifications, and quality plans.
- Conduct root cause analysis for machining-related quality issues and implement corrective actions.
- Monitor process capability and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with Production, Manufacturing Engineering, and Maintenance teams to improve quality performance.
- Review first-off approvals and process validations.
- Analyze rejection and rework trends and implement preventive measures.
- Ensure calibration compliance for measuring instruments used in the machine shop.
- Support customer and internal quality audits.
- Strong understanding of machining processes (Turning, Milling, Grinding, CNC/VMC).
- Knowledge of GD&T and drawing interpretation.
- Hands-on experience with Vernier Caliper, Micrometer, Height Gauge, Bore Gauge, Dial Indicator, etc.
- Knowledge of SPC, CAPA, 8D, 7QC tools, PFMEA, and Control Plans.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 quality systems.
- Good problem-solving and analytical skills.
