Senior Colorist

Creator Engine

Mumbai (On-site) | Full-Time | 6 working days

About the Company

Creator Engine is a creative post-production studio that partners with leading global creators, studios, and networks to shape compelling YouTube stories. We specialise in turning raw ideas into high-impact long-form content from vlogs and docu-series to BTS, EPKs, interviews, and narrative-driven shows.

At Creator Engine, every project is an opportunity to think like a creative partner. We value colorists who go beyond correction and actively craft visual mood, emotion, and brand consistency that elevate the story.

Role Overview

This is not an entry-level grading role. And it's not a role for someone who needs a fully-built infrastructure to do their best work.

We're looking for a Senior Colorist with 5+ years of experience who brings deep technical mastery, strategic creative vision, and the ability to spot what's broken and fix it. You'll be leading a small team of other colorists, which means your job isn't just to grade well. It's to make the whole colour function better than it was when you found it.

We have sharp people, fast-moving projects, and a genuine desire to build something excellent from the ground up, however we are still scrappy in the way we are set up. If that environment energises you, read on. If you need a polished infrastructure before you can perform, this probably isn't the right fit.

What You'll Actually Do

  • Lead color grading sessions for microdramas, YouTube content, docu-series, and creating consistent, cinematic looks
  • Identify workflow gaps, quality gaps, and creative gaps in the colour pipeline  and own fixing them
  • Manage and mentor other colorists, setting standards, giving feedback, and actively developing their craft
  • Collaborate with DOPs, directors, and creative producers to define and execute the visual language and emotional tone
  • Solve real creative problems  including sourcing and aligning music for microdrama content
  • Perform advanced color correction, secondary grading, power windows, and HDR/SDR deliverables
  • Ensure technical excellence across finishing pipelines including color pipelines, sound integration, and final delivery
  • Own creative decisions on color, contrast, and mood while clearly articulating your strategic choices to the team
  • Contribute to workflow improvements, including AI-assisted tools where relevant

You're expected to have strong opinions on visual storytelling. You're expected to explain them clearly. You're also expected to roll up your sleeves when things aren't working.

This Role May Not Be For You If

  • You've only worked in fully-resourced, large studio setups and need that infrastructure to function
  • You only want to grade without owning problems or developing people
  • You're uncomfortable with feedback, ambiguity, or iterative work in a fast-moving environment

You'll Thrive Here If

  • You've built or improved a colour workflow from a scrappy starting point before
  • You already think like a creative problem-solver, not just a technical operator
  • You're comfortable leading a team and holding a quality bar under pressure
  • You can articulate why a grade works for the story and the platform
  • You enjoy working closely with DOPs, editors, and creators
  • You have deep understanding of color theory, finishing pipelines, and post-production strategy
  • You care about elevating narrative through visual excellence  regardless of the size of the setup around you

Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a Colorist, with significant work across ad films, digital content, and narrative projects
  • Proven experience working in lean, fast-paced post-production environments  not just large studio pipelines
  • Advanced proficiency in DaVinci Resolve (including HDR, ACES, and complex node structures), Premiere Pro
  • Strong technical knowledge of color pipelines, sound integration, and post-production finishing
  • Experience managing or mentoring other team members
  • Strategic understanding of visual language, mood creation, and brand consistency
  • Comfort delivering multiple versions across platforms, under tight timelines

These are baseline requirements. What will truly differentiate you is your creative problem-solving, ownership mindset, and the ability to make things better, not just maintain them.
