About The Role

The Exports Logistics Lead (FMCG) will manage and scale the international outbound supply chain for our fast-moving consumer goods portfolio (Household Insecticides, Personal Care and Home Care), covering the GI and SAARC markets.

In a high-volume, high-velocity and competitive sector, the role focuses on maximising container utilisation, reducing time-to-market and driving cost efficiencies. The incumbent will oversee end-to-end shipping operations, ensure strict compliance with international product and labelling regulations, and lead partnerships with distributors and freight forwarders to keep retail shelves consistently stocked.

Key Responsibilities

Shipment & Distribution Logistics

  • Velocity Management: Execute high-volume, fast-moving shipments across ocean (FCL/LCL), air and land routes to prevent stock-outs in international retail markets.
  • Container Utilisation: Optimise container space across diverse product categories, from high-volume, low-weight items to heavy personal care and home care liquids, to lower landed cost per case.
  • Distribution Logistics: Supervise container stuffing, palletisation standards and dispatch timelines at export warehouses to ensure product integrity in transit.

Global Compliance & Regulatory Documentation

  • Country-Specific Compliance: Ensure every shipment complies with the consumer goods import regulations of the destination country.
  • FMCG Documentation: Oversee accurate, error-free preparation of trade documents, including Certificates of Analysis (COA), Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS), Certificates of Free Sale and shipping bills.
  • Customs Liaison: Coordinate with Customs House Agents (CHAs) for seamless clearances, avoiding port delays that affect market launch timelines.

Strategic Vendor & Cost Management

  • Carrier Negotiations: Negotiate competitive freight rates and secure container allocations with shipping lines, particularly during peak promotional and seasonal periods.
  • Financial Accountability: Manage the export logistics budget, tracking cost per case and duty drawback, and minimising demurrage and detention charges.
  • Trade Finance Support: Execute shipments in line with agreed payment terms, including Letters of Credit (LC) and bank guarantees, and ensure compliance with their conditions.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Sales & Demand Planning: Align with the International Business Development and Production Planning teams to match manufacturing schedules with container bookings and customer demand.
  • Inventory Control: Monitor export warehouse stock levels and optimise dispatch schedules on FIFO (First In, First Out) principles.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, International Trade, Logistics or a related discipline; an MBA in International Business or Supply Chain is an advantage.

Experience

  • 12–15 years of core export logistics experience in an FMCG, personal care, home care or consumer goods company, including at least 2 years in a team-leading or supervisory role.
  • Expert knowledge of Incoterms 2020, global labelling and packaging compliance requirements, and international shipping documentation.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (such as SAP SD/MM or Oracle) and advanced Excel for tracking freight analytics and KPIs.

Skills

  • Exposure to manufacturing, sourcing and vendor development in FMCG.
  • Strong negotiation skills and business orientation, with the ability to influence cross-functional project teams, business partners and stakeholders.
  • Analytical skills for planning, risk analysis and contingency planning for project execution.
  • Ability to prepare MIS reports and cost sheets.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (MS Project, PowerPoint and Excel).
  • Willingness to travel to manufacturing locations and vendors for development activities.
