You understand that a large aspect of the visual impact of a film is determined by the approach of the DOP. You are a lover of cinema and have been religiously following the progress of both contextual and global filmmaking over the past years. You have a keen creative eye and will pitch in when an idea is being discussed, and give your artistic point of view as to how best to execute a film. You also understand branding and will not compromise a brands overall tonality and message with your personal aesthetic sense. Moreover, you understand that your working hours will be flexible, and are willing to put in whatever work it takes to get the job done.

Responsibilities

Being directly involved in the pre-production process. This means working closely with creative teams to discuss and dissect screenplays so as to make sure that ideas are executed in the best possible way, without any creative ego involved. This also involves adding valuable cinematic insights in the creation of treatment notes.

Meticulously planning the execution of each shot in a film. This involves creating multiple mood boards and presenting your visual treatment ideas to the rest of your team

Assembling and setting up equipment and teams for smaller shoots (including camera, light and sound equipment when required). These shoots will include product shoots, still shoots, photogrammetry shoots and other specialized shoots.

Liaising with lighting, camera and technical staff while on shoot

Working with the rest of the production team to efficiently execute a film

Working closely with the editor to make sure the final film meets expectations

Delivering high quality films within the given deadlines

Requirements

Up to date with the latest developments in contextual and global cinema

A thorough understanding of production equipment (including latest technology)

Ability to manage a team during shoots

Bachelors degree in courses such as Mass Communication, Film-Making, Journalism, Arts, etc. would be preferred

2-3 years of experience in professional camera work (both stills and video)

Experience in working on both large and small scale projects

General understanding of editing

General understanding of film direction
