Principal Accountabilities and Key Activities-

Key Accountabilities

• Safe operation of all High Voltage systems under control
• Compliance with High Voltage safety standards and legal requirements
• Competency and authorization of High Voltage personnel
• Explicit accountability for HV Permit to Work, Sanction to Test, Limitation of Access, permit audits and compliance verification.
• Reduction of electrical risk (shock, arc flash, system failures)
• Take care of all the Government related audits & inspection

Key Activities

• Governance & Compliance: Define, enforce, and ensure adherence to High Voltage rules, standards, and legal requirements
• Leadership & Oversight: Lead High Voltage safety culture, audits, design reviews
• Permit & Safety Systems: Oversee PTW, LOTO Ensure isolation, prove-dead, earthing, locking-off, key-safe controls and access control processes
• Competency Management: Authorize and assess personnel; manage training and competency frameworks
• System Integrity: Maintain accurate electrical documentation, protection schemes, and testing programs
• Operations & Switching: Approve switching procedures and ensure safe execution of High Voltage operations
• Risk & Asset Management: Ensure insulation testing, equipment condition monitoring, transformer and cable safety controls.
• Incident Management: Lead investigations and ensure corrective/preventive actions for all HV incidents, near misses, electrical failures, root cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Provide electrical design support and oversee execution activities for assigned projects, ensuring quality, safety, and timely delivery.
• Coordinate with relevant government authorities for billing, regulatory compliance, and resolution of statutory queries.
• Lead and drive productivity and cost-saving initiatives across engineering operations.
• Prepare and submit sustainability reports in alignment with organizational and regulatory requirements.

Education, Qualifications and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering (Power Systems preferred),
• 10+ years in electrical engineering with significant Hight Voltage exposure

Languages Know- English and Tamil

• Electrical Safety (e.g., NFPA 70E awareness) a

Role Purpose-

The Assistant Manager- Engineering -Senior Authorized Person (SAP) is responsible for providing leadership, governance, and technical authority over all High Voltage (HV) electrical systems. The role ensures safe design, operation, maintenance, and compliance with internal standards, statutory regulations, and industry best practices.

The SAP acts as the highest level of site (or group) electrical authority for HV operations and ensures risks associated with HV systems are effectively controlled.
