Role description
UST is seeking a highly analytical and solution-oriented Senior Business Analyst with strong business problem-solving, critical thinking, and solution design capabilities. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in translating complex business challenges into practical technology and process solutions while working independently and influencing strategic decisions. This role requires a professional who can challenge assumptions, think beyond existing processes, and provide well-reasoned recommendations that drive business value. Experience in the Insurance domain, particularly Underwriting operations and workflows, is highly preferred. Key Responsibilities Strategic Analysis & Solutioning Analyze complex business problems and identify scalable, business-focused solutions. Partner with stakeholders to understand challenges, evaluate alternatives, and recommend optimal approaches. Apply critical thinking, root cause analysis, and structured problem-solving techniques. Drive solution discussions and influence business decisions through analytics and insights. Challenge existing processes and identify opportunities for innovation and operational improvement. Requirements Engineering Elicit, analyze, document, and refine business requirements for complex initiatives. Create high-quality user stories, business rules, process models, and acceptance criteria. Decompose large business requirements into actionable deliverables for delivery teams. Ensure requirements align with business objectives and measurable outcomes. Maintain traceability between business needs, requirements, and delivered solutions. Insurance & Underwriting Collaboration Collaborate closely with underwriting and insurance business teams to understand operational challenges. Support underwriting transformation, modernization, and process optimization initiatives. Ensure solutions align with underwriting business objectives, compliance standards, and regulatory requirements. Act as a bridge between business stakeholders and technology teams. Data Analysis & Decision Support Analyze business and operational data to identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunities. Conduct root cause analysis and provide actionable recommendations. Utilize data-driven insights to influence strategic and operational decisions. Support reporting and business performance measurement initiatives. Solution Delivery & Stakeholder Management Collaborate with Product Owners, Architects, Developers, QA teams, and business stakeholders throughout the SDLC. Participate in solution design reviews and validate proposed approaches. Support SIT, UAT, implementation readiness, and change management activities. Ensure delivered solutions meet business objectives and expected outcomes. Facilitate workshops, requirement sessions, and stakeholder discussions. Required Qualifications & Experience 8–10 years of Business Analysis experience in complex enterprise environments. Strong expertise in requirements elicitation, user story development, and acceptance criteria definition. Demonstrated ability to independently solve complex business problems and recommend practical solutions. Proven experience driving business outcomes rather than solely documenting requirements. Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving capabilities. Experience working autonomously with minimal supervision. Strong stakeholder management, communication, and workshop facilitation skills. Hands-on experience with: Agile/Scrum methodologies JIRA Confluence Process modeling tools Working knowledge of SQL, data analysis, and reporting concepts. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Preferred Qualifications Experience in the Insurance industry, with a strong understanding of Underwriting processes and workflows. Experience supporting Insurance Digital Transformation and modernization initiatives. CBAP, PMI-PBA, or equivalent Business Analysis certification. Experience working with geographically distributed and global teams. Exposure to enterprise reporting, analytics, and data integration initiatives.
